Estimating Lecturer Edward G. LeJeune Dies
It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of Edward G. LeJeune who died suddenly on April 19 at his home in Glenview, Illinois.
Mr. LeJeune had served MCAA as its featured lecturer for its course on Masonry Estimating. He was a graduate civil engineer from the University of Notre Dame, Class of '35, and was currently employed by one of Chicago's leading general contracting firms, the W. E. O'Neil Construction Company, in their Estimating Department.
Approximately 1,100 mason contractors, from coast to coast in this country, and in Canada had the privilege of attending his lectures, and we are sure that with the many practical ideas he presented each of them faces the competitive business world with greater assurance.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen, eight children and six grandchildren.
All of us at MCAA will greatly miss Mr. LeJeune's talents, his teaching ability and his subtle sense of humor which made each of the courses a gem. He served his fellow man well.
Bliss-Laughlin Expands With 3 Acquisitions
Bliss & Laughlin Industries has expanded its construction group by completing three acquisitions for undisclosed amounts of cash. The businesses, inventory and equipment of all three operations will become part of Goldblatt Tool Company, Kansas City, Kan., a division of BL.I.
The first acquisition, Conquip Inc., Melrose Park, III., manufactures and markets under the "Conquip" trade name a complete line of blades for all types of power trowels used in finishing wet concrete.
The second, Steel Corner Tape Corp., Richmond Hill, N.Y., produces and markets the patented "Flex Corner" tape. It is used to seal corners, arches, bay windows, doorway jambs and angles impractical for ordinary tape on drywalls.
Additionally, BLI purchased a line of power concrete trowelers formerly manufactured by Skil Corporation's construction equipment division, Mansfield, Ohio.
