Throw us a curve...we'll form it.
This job is all curve, yet our "Mod-U-Form" concrete forming system enables Engineering-constructor Stearns-Roger Inc. to achieve their lowest pouring costs in 40 years. The project was to build six 350-foot-diameter settling tanks, each 10 foot-4 inches high with 16-inch-thick walls and a 30-inch trough with its own 6-inch wall.
To compensate for the different circumference of the inner and outer walls, specially designed tapered waler-fillers were used between 4 foot long Mod-U-Form panels. They provided the tapered dimensions needed, and acted as vertical walers as well. Turnbuckle spreaders were used to make sure the troughs walls were aligned perfectly. Each waler-filler was provided with holes for the ties and each was so structurally strong that only two ties were required in the concrete.
Our Mod-U-Form panels were preassembled into ten 36-foot-wide flying gang sections on this job and pouring averaged 400 feet-a-day with costs dropping to the mid-1930 lows.
If you are looking for faster erection time, faster pours, and lower total costs, investigate the economic advantages of Mod-U-Form, the complete forming system.
