New BIA Staff Members
The Brick Institute of America announces the following new staff members. BIA's first female engineer, Maureen Brown, joined the engineering department in early June. She is a recent graduate of Penn State University and is a native of Landerburg, PA. New bookkeeper is Neal Saito. Neal is a graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College and has completed additional studies in accounting and finance at the University of Maryland.
PCMA Elects Officers
The Pennsylvania Concrete Masonry Association's newly elected officers for the 1987-88 year are: Arthur P. DeVecchis, president; Logan Myers, vice president; James Orner, treasurer; Tim B. Hildebrand, secretary; and John T. Fizzano, chairman of the board. V. James Gianoni is executive director.
Lassiter Joins Eversharp
Richard L. (Dick) Lassiter has joined Eversharp Abrasive Company, Manchester, Missouri, as sales Representative. Dick has over 27 years experience in the masonry, concrete and tile sawing industries, and most recently was with the Target Products Division where he served for 19 years as District Manager.

Celebrating their fiftieth Wedding Anniversary are Louis and Allen Young, Memphis, Tenn., while Dorothy and Bob Tubesing, Brookfield, Wisc. are toasting their fortieth Wedding Anniversary. Allen served as MCAA President some twenty-five years ago and Bob is currently an MCAA Regional Vice President. CMCA Elects Martini President
APPOINT THOMPSON
Kenneth P. Thompson, MCAA Regional Vice President, Albuquerque, has been appointed by New Mexico Governor Garrey Carruthers a member of the New Mexico Construction Industries Committee. Named with Thompson was Garry Briggs. Mr. Thompson is President, Kenneth P. Thompson Co., Inc., Masonry Contractors. He has been active in the affairs of MCAA as well as the New Mexico Chapter. Mr. Thompson replaces Forrest Westmoreland, Las Cruces.
HONOR JOHN DUNLOP
John T. Dunlop, veteran labor mediator and economist, was honored by the AFL-CIO recently with the Murray - Green-Meany Award, the federation's highest tribute. In accepting the award, Dunlop said that it was a double pleasure because he had worked with many of its earlier recipients. Dr. Dunlop, an economics professor and former dean at Harvard University, served as Secretary of Labor in the Ford Administration.
Peter L. Martini, Toronto, Ontario, has been elected president of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association for 1987-88. Mr. Martini is president of one of Canada's oldest and most-respected masonry contracting firms-Twin Masonry. Peter has been directly involved with the CMCA for almost 20 years having been one of its founding directors. He has also served as the association's Secretary-Treasurer and has played an important role in the group having been chairman of the annual CMCA conference program.
Other officers are: Kurt Bakgaard, Richmond, B. C., 1st vice president; William E. Wilson, Ottawa, Ont., 2nd vice president: Hans Sorensen, Calgary, Alta., 3rd vice president and Tiberio Mascarin, Toronto, Ont., secretary/treasurer. Neil Fraser serves as executive director.
SELECT FWA GROUP
The North Carolina Chapter of The American Institute of Architects has announced the selection of the architectural firm, The FWA Group, of Charlotte to undertake a feasibility study and to design additional office space at its present Tower headquarters in Raleigh.
The FWA Group is a thirty-five year old architectural firm which has received seventeen national, regional and local design awards in the past five years. The awards include a citation for architectural conservation for Brightleaf Square in Durham and an award of merit for historic preservation for the East Bay Trading Company in Charleston, S.C.
