EXTERIORS
A Positive Image in Brick and Stone
By PAUL SNYDER

BUILDINGS make a statement about their surroundings and about those who occupy them. They can proclaim growth, vitality and success, or they might mumble coldness and indifference. They reflect an image and sometimes help to create one. Here the planners for the Delta Airlines Reservations and Training Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, incorporated nine colors of brick and stone to mirror the surrounding terrain of Utah's Color Country, while at the same time adding interest to the long horizontal walls.
The building itself projects a positive image about the company that built it. Careful planning has continued this theme to the interior, incorporating the same indigenous material in the stairway and lobby area.
