William J. O'Connell has been named president of the Rex-Con division of Rose Industries. O'Connell has more than 34 years of experience in the construction machinery business.
Acme Brick Company has acquired American Tile Supply. Acme, also active in the tile retailing business, operates 35 company owned brick and masonry stores in seven South Central states. American Tile operated nine outlets in Texas.
The Quikrete Companies of Atlanta has acquired Rite-Mix Corporation, Indianapolis, Indiana, and its plant B. J. Distributors in Louisville, Kentucky. John Shank, Jr., will continue as manager of Rite-Mix.
William D. Palmer, Jr., has been named executive director of The Masonry Society. Formerly director of education for the American Concrete Institute, Palmer is a licensed professional engineer and holds a masters degree in environmental engineering from the University of lowa.
Stewart Earle, B.A., B.Arch, O.A.A., has been named Director of Promotion by the Ontario Masonry Contractors Association, succeeding Garth Miller, who retired in July after twenty years with OMCA. Earle registered as an architect in his native U.K. and came to Canada in 1981. He has worked for several of the larger practices in Toronto and has recently run his own practice.
Debbie Morris has been named director of meetings and conventions by the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA), replacing Chris Thiel who left the association staff to join the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Morris had served for the past five years as NCMA's manager of meetings and conventions, prior to which she served in similar capacities for the National Grocers Association and the Professional Insurance Agents of America.

Harry Deitzer has been named construction industry marketing manager of inorganic pigments for Miles, Incorporated, manufacturer of pigments for a wide range of concrete construction products, including concrete block, pavers and segmental retaining wall units.
ClaLite, a fifty year old Denver firm specializing in providing building block materials and designer stone for residential and commercial construction in the Rocky Mountain region, has changed its name to Geo-Cast, Incorporated. The new name was selected to more accurately reflect the firm's complete line of building products.
