WASHINGTON, D.C. A new exhibition at the National Building Museum examines three buildings by Frank Lloyd Wright in Japan the only foreign country where Wright built. Three Buildings by Frank Lloyd Wright: American Spirit Alive in Japan traces the history of these buildings, how Wright received the commissions, how Japanese block prints influenced Wright's designs, and the impact of Wright's architecture in Japan. The exhibition will open at the National Building Museum on June 21, 1996 and remain on view through January 19, 1997. The buildings examined in the exhibition are the Imperial Hotel (1917-1923), Yamamura House (1924), and the Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan School (1922-1926). Through photographs, drawings, models, artifacts, and correspondence between Wright and his clients the exhibitio explores the context for each of these buildings. Contact: Joyce McGhee.
