Monday afternoon activity opened when delegates recessed to the exhibition hall to meet with representatives of firms displaying at the convention. Apprenticeship came under study at 2 p.m. when Chairman Herschel Hunt presided over the Annual Apprentice Conference.
W. D. Bollinger, manager and attorney for Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland, opened Tuesday sessions with a discussion of contract bonds. He was followed by George E. Aro, safety engineer for United Engineers & Constructors, Inc. Next came I. Austin Kelly III, president of the National Employee Relation Institute, who discussed pension plans for salaried employees.
A review of the economy and state of business was then given by Dr. George Cline Smith, vice president and chief economist for F. W. Dodge Corp.
The annual meeting was convened by President Raimo at 1:30 p.m. in the Pennsylvania Room, Sheraton Hotel, and opened with reports of national officers. T. W. Kirk, St. Louis, then presented proposed changes in the constitution and by-laws.
The chair then called nominating committee chairman pro-tem Henry Nemec, Cleveland, to present the slate of officers for election.
