ANNOUNCE '62 MCAA CONVENTION PLANS
HOUSTON, TEXAS-Howdy pardner! And Welcome to the Lone Star State... will be the familiar greetings for those attending the 12th annual MCAA Convention & Show to be held at the fabulous Shamrock Hilton Hotel, on February 11-14.
Herman May, Convention Chairman, reports that plans for the big Texas meeting are on schedule and that several unique and interesting features are being added to the convention agenda.
For the 7th straight year the Convention Registration Fee will not be increased and the Advance Registration Package, which saves the member $5, will be again offered. To facilitate registration the postpaid registration form and envelope which permits members to register easily and quickly will be used. Release of Convention material, Mr. May states, will begin during the middle of August.
The MCAA Show has been announced to those firms who exhibited last year, and on August 15th it will be released to other firms in the masonry industry. Those interested should immediately contact the MCAA Executive Office, 208 South La Salle Street, Chicago 4, III., so that information may be forwarded.
MATERIAL HANDLING AMBOREE PLANNED
The popular Material Handling Amboree is back again on the MCAA Convention program, according to word received from Robert Tubesing, Chairman of the Material Handling Committee. The group met on July 20th in Des Plaines, Ill., where a tentative schedule of events was completed.
Portland UMA Appoints Field Representative
Appointment of Jack St. Cloud, Portland, as a full-time field representative for the Unit Masonry Assn. has been announced by E. L. Parsley, president.
The new job has been established as service to architects, engineers, construction specifications writers, home builders, realtors, lending agencies and other segments of the construction industry.
Mr. Clair, a member of the Portland Chapter, AIA, has been a licensed architect in Oregon since 1956. He had (Continued on page 17)
"Man & Masonry" Program Wins Top Award
"Man and Masonry," a book and film produced by the Allied Masonry Council to define the esthetic attributes of clay products for architects, has won the top award for public relations in the 23rd annual creative competition of the National Advertising Agency Network.
The premier award for the program was presented to Henry J. Kaufman, managing director of Henry J. Kaufman & Associates, public relations counsel to AMC, at the NAAN's 30th annual management conference, held at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Supporters of AMC are the Mason Contractors Association of America, the Structural Clay Products Institute and the Bricklayers, Masons & Plasterers International Union of America, Author of the "Man and Masonry" book and architectural consultant to the agency in film production was Bernd Foerster, assistant professor of architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.
