Asquini Named to Lead

Cook County Chapter CHICAGO-Armand A. Asquini has been named president of the Cook County Chapter, MCA. He succeeds Pat Filippi. Asquini was elected at the chapter's annual membership meeting last month.

Serving with Asquini are Joseph F. Szabo, vice president; H. A. Christiansen, secretary; and Ron McLaren, treasurer. Ray Holeman continues as executive secretary of the group.


Dayton MCA Names

Committee Chiefs DAYTON, OHIO-Percy Bilbrey, new president of the Mason Contractors Association of Dayton, Inc., has announced the following committee chairmen appointments:

George Moore, architectural; James Lonie, apprentice negotiation-arbritration; Vie Scott, entertainment; Leonard Hoying, program.

In the magazine "Overview", published for school executives, a recent article states that a building owner in Dallas, Tex, discovered that fire insurance premiums on his metal panel building and its contents are nearly $6,000 a year more than if he had built of masonry.

Stewart Stein, has formed his ow firm for the practice of architecture and engineering at 1011 W. Gran Ave., Franklin Park, III. Stein is president of the Construction Specifications Institute.

William F. Nelson, MCAA pa president, was featured speaker before the April 10 luncheon meeting the Washington (D. C.) Building Congress, April 10. Bill is a past president of the WBC and a member of the executive committee, Construction Practices Board.

The Prestressed Concrete Institute has changed the dates of its 1961 convention to Oct. 15-19, Brown rown Pala Hotel, Denver. The 1962 conventie will be held Sept. 23-28, 1962, at t Roosevelt Hotel, New Orleans, a plans tentatively call for the 19 convention Oct. 5-12 in San Francis. Harold W. Hansen has been named by Portland Cement Association as senior planning engineer the Paving Bureau. Hansen is a former vice president for Triangle Construction Co. and was a special assignment engineer with the Automotive Safety Foundation.

Harold Petersen, immediate pa president of MCAA, celebrated birthday April 1. Harold missed the Philadelphia convention because of a siege of illness, and is now recovered Gordon Sheppard, Xenia, Oh has been appointed chairman of the Unit Masonry Association of Dayton Harry G. Nevings, sales manager of National Brick Co., Chicago, has retired after 40 years in the construction industry. He served 16 years with National and spent the previous years with Medusa Portland Cement Co.

F. Philip Brotherton and Jack Train have been elected to partners in the Chicago architectural firm Perkins & Will. Brotherton is licensed to practice architecture in England as well as this country. Train is sece vp of the Chicago Chapter AIA.. The Unit Masonry Association of Cincinnati continues its active promotion of masonry. Latest is an attractive in the building section of the Cincinnati Inquirer, stressing "handsome modern" masonry.
