National Apprentice Contest Held in St. Louis
LOUIS, MO.-Winner of the 1963 National Apprentice Contest is Ronald Pfleger, Local No. 1, St. Louis, with Gary Hempel, Local No. 2, Seattle, Wash., the runner up. In third and fourth place were Denny W. Miller, Local No. 6, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Thomas J. Doidge, Local No. 2, Los Angeles, Calif.
Judges for the competition were Richard DeWalle, Mason Contractor, and President of MCAA's St. Louis Chapter; John Sweeny, Architect and President of the A.I.A. Chapter: and John Napoli, member local No. 1, St. Louis, Mo.

Bricklayers Display of the Union Label Show was one of the largest ever built. Contestants had ample room in which to build indoors. The panels around the perimeter of the area were constructed with various patterns and materials.
