Roy A. Shipley, President of NATCO Corp., has announced that Jack R. Dempsey, Fred L. Rosenbloom, and William Wikoff have been elected board members. Edwin Shields Hewitt has reported that Hewitt Associates have released a new report entitled "Your Responsibilities as a Trustee." It is intended for those who serve on joint labor-management welfare plans. Oregon Gov. Mark O. Harfield served as official groundbreaker for the Portland UMA "Research Home" project. This home has been undertaken by the group in order to show the public that you can build a quality masonry home with the latest conviences at a cost comparable to a home built with other materials.

The Detroit Mason Contractors Association sponsored the first MCA Squash Rackets Tournament at the Uptown Athletic Club on April 18-20. Jesse A. Higgins, long time Managing Director of the Allied Construction Industries of Cincinnati, was honored at that groups 34th annual meeting held recently at the Netherland Hilton Hotel. William F. Hummel, well known Cincinnati Masonry Contractor was named 1st Vice President of the Cincinnati ACI. Our thanks to NCMA for their fine coments regarding Mason Contractors in their recent issue of Pictorial. The Mid-west Material Handling Show will be held in Chicago, June 4-6.

After 47 years with the Koehring Co., Milwaukee, E. E. Brugger has announced that he plans to leave the active service of the firm. Brugger was appointed a Koehring Vice President in 1948 and has served on the Company's Board since 1950. He was advanced to the post of President and General Manager in 1956. The Research Committee under the direction of Bob Tubesing has a top flight Workshop Clinic planned for the Summer Board Meeting. Committee member Joe Szabo will handle the "Hi-Bond" Mortar Workshop. Howard Jacobs, Portland Chapter member, was recently installed as the President of that city's Unit Masonry Association. Fayette Ellis has been named Regional Sales Manager for Acme Brick Co.
