People & Events

Two publications that deserve special attention are the Concrete Masonry Association's Pictorial, Volume 27, and the November issue of the Bricklayer, Mason & Plaster. Pictorial gives an interesting review of ways and means to use Shadowal while the cover photo on the Journal is outstanding.

The CSI committee on Masonry Wire Tie Systems continues its work. Headed by Joe Lucas and Warren Richardson the Committee is composed of Al Rubin, MCAA member; Robert Shephard, V.P., B.M. & P.I.U.; J. F. Fitzgerald; S. A. Boriz: Corb Garton; Carl Roth: Al Levy; Harry Bevignani; Harry Haser, Jr.; Henry Miller and R. E. Copeland. Bell Savings & Loan Association survey of new building in the Chicagoland area reports a decline in permits for both homes and apartments in October. In spite of the decrease they remain at a relatively high level for this period.

Bernard L. Boutin has assumed his duties as Executie Vice President of the National Association of Home Builders. He was formerly Administrator of the Federal Governments General Serice Administration. Felker Mfg. Co. will be moving into new quarters in Torrance, Calif., on January 4th.
