IT TAKES A MOΝΤΗ!
It takes a month for the window washers to clean all the windows in the Chase Manhattan Plaza Building, according to a recent feature article appearing in the New York Daily News. The Seagram Building on Park Ave. and the Corning Building on Fifth Ave. also takes crews a month to clean them. The article goes on to say "For there are fewer glass buildings going up today than there were three or four years ago. Architects and builders appear to have become disenchanted with glass as a building material. It's 20 to 25% more expensive to install than masonry; it deteriorates, where masonry has an indefinite lifespan; its heat loss is twice as great as masonry's, and it has to be cleaned oftener than any other building material."
A highly interesting observation by one of New York's major newspapers with which we heartedly agree.
