The Portland, Ore., UMA held their annual Dinner Dance & Officer Installation aboard the "River Queen" on Friday evening, Feb. 28th. Newly elected Regional Vice Presidents for National Concrete Masonry Association are: J. David Nyce, J. W. Kingery, Ray A. Browning, Peter Muth, Lyle E. Spooner and Robert M. Bonus. Four new members have seen added to the staff of Henry J. Kaufman & Association. They are: Robert L. Ball, William Caldwell, Fred . Sellers and Phillip R. Lackey. John Hartman has been elected President of the National Roofing Contractors Assoc.. Gilbert A. Meland has been appointed Regional Director for SCPI's Region 7A.

Paul Schneider, Sales Manager of West Virginia Brick Co., has been elected President of SCPI's Region No. 4, and Don Renkert, President of Metropolitan Brick, Inc. was elected Vice President at the Region's Annual Meeting held earlier this year. William F. Fagan has been named sales representative of Dur-O-wal for the metropolitan New York area. He joins the firm after many years experience in the building supply field. SCPI has released a very fine publication "SCPI Today New Action In An Old Industry". This 20- page brochure which graphically explains the functions of this organization and the philosophy of the new SCPI. NCMA recently elected Ralph Walb, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, as President with Warren Larson, Omaha, Nebr., Secretary-Treasurer.

Welfare Plan Report

Secretary of Labor W. Willard Wirtz reported today that assets totaling $66 billion were held in employee welfare and pension benefit plans in 1963. He indicated that at present rate of growth the assets of such plans would reach $100 billion by 1970 representing one of the largest concentrations of investment accumulation in the United States.

The Secretary cited these figures in a statement issued in conjunction with the release of the Annual Report to Congress on the Administration of the Welfare and Pension Plans Disclosure Act required by Section 14(b) of the Act.
