Stop now and read the Notice appearing on page 8 of this issue regarding MCAA's new Insurance Program. Bob Ebeling and his Insurance Committee, have done a real job in getting for you, the member, one of the best plans available.

This years' Nominating Committee deserves particular praise for their hard work. Stephen Raimo, Herman May, James Lonie, Fred Daues and George Arconti spent over five hours in two sessions so as to bring to the Board a thoroughly thought out slate for consideration at the annual meeting. The weather during the stay was ideal. A little cool during the morning hours but compared to what happened during the middle of November it was perfect. If you didn't see it, on Nov. 16th, snow reached an unprecedented 3 inches at Las Vegas. Our sincere thanks to John Yoxen, MCAA member, who made the various arrangements for speakers and the field trip. John was an excellent host.

Portland UMA Helps Palsy Center

A new face was put on the Double-O Cerebral Palsy Center building in Portland, Ore. last month by members of the Unit Masonry Association. All materials and labor were donated, as was the building itself. The Center is located at 5417 S.E. 72nd Ave. in Portland.

Cerebral palsy patients use the center as a workshop and headquarters where they assemble and package various items for manufacturing firms in the Portland area.

The 7,000 used bricks for the facing were donated by Columbia Brick Works, Interpace and Ken Parker, mason contractor on the job. Sand for the job was donated by Pacific Building Materials Co., cement by Calaveras Cement Co. and Oregon-Portland Cement Co., and lime by Ashgrove Lime Co. Various journeymen masons were working on the job, in addition to the mason apprentices from the apprenticeship school, which is under the direction of Ray Hord.

The Double-O Cerebral Palsy Center is a non-profit group managed by Richard F. Costello. The center provides a sheltered workshop, which employs between 20 and 40 handicapped individuals. Costello points out that the center gives these people a chance to work in a sheltered environment and contribute what they can to society.
