New "Green Book" Published
An expanded array of average rental rates for construction equipment, ranging from hand tools to larger earthmovers, is contained in the 16th Edition Compilation of Rental Rates for Construction Equipment which has just been published by AED.

The new "Green Book," as it is popularly called, is the result of a nation-wide survey this summer of some eight hundred AED member firms in every part of the country. Machinery rental charges were reported on some 1000,000 individual units of construction equipment, attachments and accessories.

The published reference, containing the national average of charges for more than 2,000 types and sizes of construction equipment, is again completely sectionalized and tab-indexed.

Four Millionth Tractor
A new tractor production record was set recently when International Harvester Company became the first firm in the world to produce four million tractors. IH produced its first tractor in 1906, with a production run of 14 units for the entire year. One of these early units is shown above in comparison with the four millionth IH tractor, a Farmall 806 one of the most powerful form tractors in the field today.

Ohio Lime Company Builds New Plant
Construction of a new $1,300,000 lime plant at Ohio Lime Company, Woodville, Ohio is well under way. Foundations and excavations are very nearly complete with some lime storage bins and some stone storage bins ready for installation of final operating equipment.

The plant is designed to produce industrial and chemical lime and to increase the capacity of the company to produce building lime products thru its existing shaft kiln plant. The existing plant consists of 36 shaft lime kilns, each capable of producing approximately 15 tons of quicklime per day from which are hydrated approximately 18 tons of hydrated lime. Presently, industrial lime is produced in some of these shaft kilns, and the anticipated new construction will free (continued on page 12, col. 3)

The Detroit Mason Contractors held their Annual Outing during late July at the Bonnie Brook Golf Club with over 334 men in attendance for the evening dinner. Afternoon activities included the lowest score for the 18 hole course won by Mr. Don Lage of Duo-Wire, Inc. The closest to the pin contest won by Mr. Edward Boike, Jr. Executive Secretary of the Chapter.

Highlight of the afternoon activities was the presentation by Mr. Robert Ebeling President of the Chapter of a pen and barometer desk set to Mr. George A. Miller, Executive Vice President of MCAA for his outstanding contributions to the masonry industry.

Also, again as usual, the contractors defeated the suppliers in the annual softball game. This victory was due to some very excellent fielding and tremendous power hitting.

The main event for the evening was the presentation by the Chapter President Mr. Ebeling of the 1964 Detroit Mason Contractors Association Awards. The awards are presented to (continued on page 17)


HENRY, SELL APPOINTED
