in brick and brick laid in various designs to exhibit bonds or patterns as well as color uses achieved through the use of glazed brick.

"How much would it cost for me to build a brick fireplace?" is so popular a question that a booklet giving tips to the amateur, part-time bricklayer is simply handed out when that question pops up, approximately 25 times an hour. The booklet also gives valuable tips on how the job should be tackled.

Other booklets, entitled "How Many Brick A Day?", "What Do Buildings Really Cost?", and a raft of other literature on the subject of construction are grabbed up by the public at a rate of approximately 500 to 1,000 per day.

The purpose of the exhibit constructed by the Council, representing both management and labor in the brick industry, is to familiarize the public with brick's economy, beauty, versatility and durability as a building material. Originally scheduled to las only through February, the stay on the exhibit has been extended unti March 15.

According to Joseph Holme, president of the Metropolitan Brick Masonry Council, "Many of the question: we get run far afield from our basie interest which is brick construction But, it proves rather conclusively tha people not only spend a good bit o their lives in buildings such as homes schools, office buildings, hospitals theaters, and other structures, they are fundamentally interested in the whole business of construction from desig to materials and methods. We're de lighted at the interest in our exhibi and the opportunity to find out, firs hand, what people are thinking abou If we could afford it, we'd leave the exhibit up for six months or a year.
