"BECT" a new masonry firm in Indianapolis comprised of Ward E. Broady, Walter H. Edwards, Jr., Robert Campbell and William R. Tarrant has released a new and attractive brochure on their firm. It is four page and two colors and excellently describes the various services of the firm.

Thomas Augstine is the newly appointed regional director for the U. S. Dept. of Labor's Bureau of Apprenticeship & Training covering the states of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. New members of the Colorado Chapter are E. P. "Lefty" Henderson and Oberg Construction Company.

The Indiana Concrete Masonry Association will hold its annual meeting January 10th at the Statler-Cleveland Hotel. Rasmussen Equipment Co., Salt Lake City, Utah, has been appointed a distributor by PCM Div. of Koehring Co. Long time general manager and secretary of the Portland Cement Association, William Kinney died at the age of 79 on December 5.


In Memoriam

It is with deep regret that we advise you of the death of Everett D. Sperry, Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Sperry was president of the firm of Sperry & Hanson in Honolulu and had been active in the affairs of the MCAA. Many MCAA members will remember him for his jovial personality and his sincere desire to improve the entire masonry industry. Mr. Sperry became a member in 1954 and served as State Vice President, and later as State Chairman, for the State of Hawaii.


Add Four New Members

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN, Four new members have been elected to active membership in the Minneapolis Chapter. They are: W. J. Swanson, Hage Construction Co., Hanson Brothers and Crown Sidewalk Co., Inc. New associate members are: Suburban Ready-Mix, Spancrete Midwest Co., Minneapolis Equipment Co. and Chanhassen Ready-Mix.


Taylor Elected President

Thomas E. Taylor has been elected President of the Marble Institute of America. Chester A. Smith was elected to the group's Board of Directors. Mr. Taylor is President of the Carthage Marble Corp.


Honor Carl McElvy

California State Architect Carl C. McElvy was presented an engraved Masonry Honor Award plaque Tuesday, December 1st. The award was made to Mr. McElvy as head of California's Office of Architecture and Construction Department of (continued on next page)
