Detroit Honor Awards

Detroit Chapter Honors Mason Contractors and Associate Members for their contribution to the Advancement of the Masonry Industry.

Outstanding Detroit Mason Contractor for 65 was Jim Snyder. Dwight Lewis, Chapter President, presents the Award to Mr. Snyder.

DETROIT, MICH. During the annual Outing of the Detroit Mason Contractors Association held here recently Awards for service to the Industry were made by the Chapter. Winner of the Outstanding Contractor Award was Jim Snyder with Howard Hicks and Don Bidwell receiving Honorable Mention. Outstanding Associate Member Award was presented to Elton Asmus with Honorable Mention going to Jack Hackett and Jerry Kelly.

Honored for his service as President for 1963-64 was Bob Ebeling. He was presented with a gavel and block.

The outing held at Bonnie Brook Country Club was the largest, with over 400 people in attendance, and the most enthusiastic ever held by the Chapter. Co-chairmen of the event were Don Lage and Dick Zimmerman. Committee members were: Ed Boike, Don Evans, Jack Hackett, John Hes, Vito Ippolito, John Knecht, Wes Liddle, Sam Magna, Floyd Nixon, Bob Pachota, and Jack Robinson.

A large and spirited group engaged in the Golf Tournament with Don Bidwell winning the "closest to the pin" contest with a distance of 6 ft. 4 inches. Brady Benton finished second and Bob Molino third.

Led by the superb pitching of Jim Snyder, the contractors once again eked out a 16 to 15 decision over the determined Associates. It did, however, take a 3 run rally in the last inning to turn apparent defeat into victory for the contractors.

President Lewis presents to Past President Robert Ebeling an Award for his services to the Association during the past year.

Honorable Mention Awards were received from Mr. Lewis by Howard Hicks and Don Bidwell.

Outstanding Detroit Area Supplier for 1965 was Elton Asmus, receiving the Award from Dwight Lewis.

A most invigorating stop during the Golf Tournament was Ippolito's portable refreshment wagon.
