Company Changes Hands
ATLANTA, GA. - Control of McDonough Construction Company, a national firm founded here 16 years ago, has been acquired by a group of long-time employees, William H. Miller, executive vice president and general manager, announced.
Bernard P. McDonough of Parkersburg, W. Virginia, chairman of the board and the company's founder, and William C. Lea, Atlanta, Ga., former president, negotiated the sale of all equity to the group.
The sale includes all equity in the company and all work in process, Mr. Miller said. Mr. McDonough's ownership of lands, buildings and properties is not affected by the transaction. The sale price was not disclosed.
In addition to Mr. Miller, who has been with the company nine years, the new owners are C. H. Girardeau, vice president and an 11-year veteran; Robert J. Kruer, vice president and treasurer, with the firm for 10 years, and Bill Watkins, who is president of Watkins Motor Lines, Inc.
The four men are now the sole stockholders in the company, Mr. Watkins said, and will retain the original name.
Located at 1958 Monroe Dr., N.E., McDonough Construction Company undertakes general contractor work involving commercial and industrial projects on a national scale. According to reliable trade sources, McDonough is the largest Georgia-based building contractor, with contract volume ranging between $20-$25 million annually. The firm's jobs extend from Alaska to the Caribbean.
Mrs. Brown was not a very tidy housekeeper. Housecleaning was a chore she detested. One evening after dinner her husband called angrily from the hall: "Helen, where's the dust on this table? I had a very important phone number written on it."
