tional practice to the young men enrolled in the training session. The apprenticeship program consists of "on-the-job" training and related studies designed to supply skilled craftsmen to trades.
Laborer's Local Union No. 383 supplied hod carriers to assist the apprentices needed to keep the job moving on schedule.
A special buff colored adobe concrete block for the planter was supplied by Superlite Builders Supply, Inc., as well as the other concrete units needed for the project. Local masonry contractor, Chet Freegard supplied the necessary equipment for mixing the mortar and for scaffolding.
The "Theme Garden of the Valley Garden Center, is a group of three demonstration areas which will show home owners interesting ideas for the many improvements that can be made in a typical backyard. The three units, when completed, will include a pleasure garden, a tropical garden and al native, low-maintenance garden. All will be opened to the public.

In his report on insulation business, R. L. Upchurch, chairman of the insulation committee, presented taped interviews with concrete block manufacturers who stock water-repellent vermiculite as an extra-profit item for selling insulated masonry construction.
MEYER APPOINTED
Charles C. Meyer has been appointed General Sales Manager of the National Wire Products Corp., it was announced by H. Clifford Youngen, President. The Company was founded in 1955, and, according to Mr. Youngen, has grown in ten years to be the largest independent manufacturer of concrete reinforcement fabric in the United States. It has plants in Baltimore, Md., Savannah, Ga., and Tampa, Fla.
GOLDBLATT ACQUIRED BY BLISS & LAUGHLIN IND.
F. J. Robbins, President of Bliss Laughlin Industries, Oak Brook, Illinois and Alex A. Levy, President of Goldblatt Tool Co. of Kansas City Missouri, announced an agreement for the acquisition of Goldblatt by Bliss & Laughlin. The transaction has been approved by the directors of both companies and the shareholders of Goldblatt Tool Co., at a recent special meeting.
The agreement calls for payment of an undisclosed amount of cash for substantially all the assets of Goldblatt and the assumption of state liabilities. The transaction became effective April 1, 1965.
Goldblatt Tool Co, was founded in 1885 by Henry Goldblatt. It has growth and prospered since it was founded through the development and manufacture of tools for the "trowel trades," such as bricklayers, masons, concrete finishers, and plasterers.
NEW STONE FILM
The availability to architect, builder and masonry contractor groups of a full-color twenty minute sound movie describing the mining, processing, and techniques of application for Featherock Stone Veneer has been announced by Featherock, Inc., producers of the natural, lightweight stone veneer and landscaping boulders.
Reservations for use of the new Featherock film may be made by writing: Movie Service, Featherock Inc., 6331 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90028. Because of the limited number of prints available, reservations are currently limited to architect, builder, or masonry contractor groups, so those writing in for film reservations are asked to indicate the group to which the film will be shown.
NEW RECORD HIGH
Net sales of Omark Industries, Inc. diversified international manufacture of industrial cutting and fastening equipment, established a new record high of $20,430,000 for the nine months ended March 31, 1965.
John D. Gray, Omark president made the announcement at the firm headquarters in Portland, Ore., and added that the new sales figure represents a 14 per cent increase over sales of $17,833,000 for the same period in fiscal 1964.
