Dwight Lewis Elected President of Detroit Chapter

At the annual meeting of the Detroit Mason Contractors Association Dwight Lewis was elected President for the coming year. Pictured above are (seated 1. to r.) Others elacted at the meeting were: Robert Molino, Vice President, and Robert Vander vennet, Treasurer. Directors selected were: 1. R. Fisher, Robert Ebeling. Photograph at the right shows the members of the Chapter during their recent annual meeting. Mr. Ebeling is MCAA's Michigan Chairman and head of the Association's Education Committee. Mr. Bidwell is the newly elected Regional Vice President of MCAA. Mr. Snyder heads MCAA's Research Committee.


Brewer Ohio Champion

Winner of the Ohio State Apprenticeship Contest held March 13th was Jack Brewer, Columbus, Ohio. Runner-up was Wayne Hanzel of Cleveland. Third place winner was Ralph McL.ish, Columbus, with fourth place going to Tom Pontuti of Youngstown. Judging the contest were Dan Hear-ell, Ravenna; Andy Reis, Cincinnati and Archie Stephens, Cleveland.


NEW PUBLICATION

A new monthly publication devoted to nationwide developments in the building codes field is announced by The Industrial Press. The first issue of "Building Codes Newsletter" appeared in April.

The prospectus for the "Newsletter" calls for the following: Monthly reports on the acceptance by municipalities of one of the four codes considered as national standards; reports on building code activities of trade associations in the building field; the activities of the code agencies in the states which have building codes: reference to test reports on building products made by accredited laboratories. The "Newsletter" will also provide a calendar of public hearings by municipal legislative bodies on building, fire and health ordinances, and report the results of such hearings.

Memphis Honors Apprentices

Nine young men who have completed their four year apprenticeship were honored recently at a ceremony in Memphis. Receiving certificates of completion were: Jerry Baxter, Charles McClain, Horace Whittington, Eddie Gene Smith, Robert E. Smith, James P. Rast, Joe Franklin Howell, Eugene Pilcher and John Whitsett.

Doing the Honoring were the Mason Contractors Association of Memphis and Local No. 1.


ROY SHIPLEY RESIGNS

Roy A. Shipley submitted his registration as chairman and chief executive officer of Natco Corporation, structural clay products manufacturer, following the annual meeting of shareholders in the company's headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pa.

James T. Bolan, formerly secretary and treasurer, was elected chairman and chief executive officer to succeed Mr. Shipley, whose registration was accepted by the board of directors with regret. Re-elected were the following company officers: L. A. Bretz, president; Harry F. Toner, vice president-sales; Mabel Monheim, secretary; R. J. McGinnity, treasurer; P. W. Gallagher, assistant secretary and assistant treasurer; and Ewing O. Horner, assistant treasurer and controller.
