Thomas Hartley
Thomas Hartley, MCAA Pennsylvania State Chairman, died Monday, November 21st, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Mr. Hartley, a prominent Pittsburgh Mason Contractor, was active in the local MCAA Chapter, the Mason Contractors Association of Pittsburgh.
During MCAA's Annual Convention in that city he assisted in planning and arranging the various activities and constructed the major portion of masonry displays.
Mr. Hartley was an avid supporter of MCAA's programs and will be greatly missed by the Association and all those in the masonry industry.
Frode Frodesen
Frode Frodesen, 84, prominent Mason Contractor and leader in Seattle, Wash., Norwegian community died on Tuesday, November 15th. A native of Drammen, Norway, Mr. Frodesen came to Seattle in 1905. He was a bricklayer and construction superintendent before establishing his own contracting business. He was a member of the Mason Contractors Association of Seattle, Washington.
In 1962 Mr. Frodesen was awarded the St. Olaf's Medal by King Olaf of Norway for his work in promoting Norwegian culture and Norwegian-American Friendship.
Surviving are two sons, Fred and John Frodesen and a daughter, Mrs. Anne Marie Murphy, all of Seattle.

Ten Millionth By Skill
SKIL Corporation recently presented its ten millionth power tool for display at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. Presentation of the Model 596 Drive-R-Drill marked another milestone in the 42 year old firm's history. John W. Sullivan is President of the Chicago-based company.
A steady stream of new products followed introduction of the famous Skilsaw circular saw in 1924. Other areas in which the company pioneered include the multi-speed reciprocating saw, two-speed jig saw and belt sand-er, battery-operated portable tools, and electric lawn and garden tools.
MCAA initiated its first Negotiating Seminar during October with 51 officers of MCAA Chapters in attendance at a day long conference held at the Flying Carpet Motor Inn, near O'Hare Airport, Chicago, Ill.
Frank Laureys, MCAA Regional Vice President, moderated the meeting which was presented by Peer Pedersen, MCAA Legal Counsel, and John Stewart, Editor-in-Chief, The Bureau.

The meeting was designed to give chapter representatives the basic knowledge of negotiating combined with a review of their responsibilities and duties. A summary of current developments in the field were presented along with a summary of contracts in the construction field.
Fall Ex. Board Meeting
SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO-The MCAA Executive Board held its Fall meeting here at the Caribe Hilton, Nov. 2-6 with over 36 members in attendance. The entire Friday morning session was devoted to material handling and packaging where new developments in this field were reviewed by the board.
