MONTREAL-Thomas F. Murphy has been elected to succeed John J. Murphy as President of the Bricklayers, Masons & Plasterers International Union of America at the Convention of that organization here. William R. Conners becomes Secretary with George King the Union's new First Vice President. John Joyce, Chicago, Illinois, has been selected as the Treasurer of the I.U. and he has assumed his new position in Washington, D.C.

Mr. John Murphy resigned as President after serving many years.


Highlight Bearing Wall At Convention
Lester Dietrich, 67 MCAA Convention Chairman, has announced that "Your Future and Bearing Wall", a two hour symposium, will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 19th, in the Ballroom of the Chase-Park Plaza Hotel.

"We will endeavor to acquaint the mason contractor with the various characteristics of this type of construction and give him a practical presentation on construction techniques," Dietrich said.

Robert Denny, Harry J. Kaufman & Associates, Washington, D.C., will moderate the session which will feature leaders from every section of the masonry industry.

Chairman Dietrich will release the names of the various participants in next month's issue of Masonry.
