Davis Oregon State Chairman-Elect
PORTLAND, OREGON. At the recent State Meeting of the Oregon Chapters, E. D. Davis was selected State Chairman-elect for that State. Other officers elected were P. Arnold as Vice President and Carl Sandeen, Secretary.
The State Meeting held at the Portland Hilton was well attended by members from Oregon with special guests being Region Vice President Fred Frodesen, and G. Earl Blackstock, Seattle, Washington.
The meeting was under the direction of Oregon Chairman Kenneth Parker who introduced the various guests and speakers. Highly informative was the presentation by Roscoe Watts, Portland Attorney and that of Dave Pyle and Bill Timm, Century Insurance Company. Other speakers were Montic Smallen and George Miller. Following the business session, a dinner-dance was held in the Hilton Hotel.
Zonolite Opens in Houston
W. R. Grace & Co.'s Zonolite Division has taken its growing polystyrene operation into the southwest with a recent plant opening in Houston, Texas. The 30,000 square foot facility features batch-type molding equipment, and will serve the states of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Zonolite's Dyfoam polystyrene has been developed for use in a number of applications such as cavity wall, perimeter and floor insulations. Combined with foil facings, it is widely used in metal buildings, livestock and poultry houses, and low-temperature and freezer installations. The new Houston plant will also stock the Dyfoam blanket, a roll version of the product which is designed for industrial applications such as cylindrical tanks and large diameter pipes.

Marsh has been elected a Vice President of the Hertz Corp. Skil Corp. has announced the election of Clinton B. Nutto as Vice President-Finance and Administration, a new post in the Chicago-based power tool manufacturers top management structure.
Charles L. Christen has been appointed an associate in the the architectural, planning, engineering firm of Deeter Ritchey Sippel, it was announced recently by Russell O. Deeter. Earl F. Bennett was elected President of the Producers Council, Inc. at that groups recent meeting in New York City. The Texas Concrete Masonry Association has again produced an enjoyable Souvenir Picture Brochure of the Annual Masonry Contractors Convention.
Skil Corp. Expands

The expansion program will increase the company's production space by more than 32% in two completely new facilities and provide for the enlargement of Skil's air tool plant in Skokie, Illinois. Mr. Sullivan added that while physical expansion is boosted by one-third, actual productivity will increase by more than 40%-due to the installation of new and more fully automated equipment.

SCPI Names George Sells President
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.- George C. Sells, President of General Shale Products Corp., Johnson City, Tenn., has been elected President of the Structural Clay Products Institute at that group's annual convention here. Other officers elected are: Woodrow R. Eshenaur, Glen-Gary Shale Brick Corp., Vice President; Charles T. Richards, Richards Brick Co., Treasurer and Thomas Lennon, Secretary.
Internationally famous sports personality Bob Richards was one of the featured speakers with Thomas F. Murphy, President, B.M. & P.L.U.; Charles Goodman, FAIA; William Butler, Chase Manhattan Bank, and George Miller, MCAA, highlighting the program.
Meeting prior to SCPI was the National Association of Distributors & Dealers of Structural Clay Products. Featured speaker at the meeting was Nathan Levine, AIA, who discussed. "The Architectural Program's Relation to Material Selection."
