To Complete the Report

The various state conventions are always enjoyable but this year it seemed they were doubly so. The golfers at the Tennessee meeting needed training as mountain goats for the Country Club course was not only a test of golfing skill, but really to see if you could take mountain climbing. The 12th hole is out of this world. The green is straight down 150 yards from the tee-with a few clouds in between. Garland Sherman taking over for Mason Painter did a tremendous job of moderating the opening session. Mason is making a quick recovery from a serious illness. There is one thing about Gatlinburg, when it rains it doesn't mess around. One drop could drench a person. Alabama was well represented with a full contingent of members at the meeting. Louise and Allen Young celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary at the banquet is certainly a picturesque city and one that is a delight to visit.

During the telecast of the recent Johnson wedding in Washington, one of the TV commentators was interviewing Supreme Court Justice Douglas and his wife. One comment we especially remember is "The brickwork is outstanding. It makes an impressive cathedral." And now to complete the report, we have this photo of Chas. Danna and Bob Tube-

What's Going On Here?

and they're shown here posing for their formal picture.

The Texas meeting was held at the El Tropicano Motor Hotel in the heart of the Alamo City and on the banks of the San Antonio River. Walter Derk made a wonderful presentation on insurance and we look forward to seeing his new edition of "Insurance for Contractors" which should be off the press very shortly. Bill Bartlett and Bill Smith were to play Chas. Danna and George Miller in a game of golf, but we are told the the latter two were spared by a very timely rain storm. The hotel was a busy place on Friday afternoon for it was learned that President Johnson would be going to his ranch for the weekend. The Tropicano serves as press headquarters during his stay in Texas, so it was interesting to watch the various activity. Dee Brown and Bill Bartlett celebrated birthdays during the meeting. Mayor Pro-Tem. John Gatti, gave a fine welcome speech and San Antonio sing at the Board Meeting Tournament about to tackle a good game of golf.

The Unit Masonry Association of Northern California announced the election of Douglas R. McMurty as its President. He succeeds Art Culver, President of Port Costa Clay Products Company. Other officers named at the quarterly UMA meeting were: Vice President, Gustave L. Domrose, Domrose & Sons, Mason Contractors; Secretary, Charles Pratt of Best Block Company; and Treasurer, Don Prebble, Masonry Consultant for Testing Engineers.

Suspended from the boom are two brick layers tuckpointing the chimney of a Northern Illinois residence-but why all the elaborate preparations? The roof of the house on unusual tile roof which is no longer in production and therefore, the owner would not allow the Mason Contractor, A. The doctor met a former patient on the street. "Hello, Mr. Brown," he said, "That check you gave me came back." "That's funny," said Brown, " so did my lumbago."
