Summer Board Meeting Held In Ozarks

MCAA's Summer Executive Board Meeting was held July 7-10 at Tan-Tar-A Resort on beautiful Lake of the Ozarks, Osage Beach, Mo., with 115 persons in attendance. From the opening joint Material Handling and Emblem Committee session on Thursday afternoon, it was evident that this would be a most productive meeting for the Association.

Starting at 9 o'clock on Saturday morning and continuing on through without a break until approximately 2 P.M. the Executive Board heard reports from officers and committee chairmen. Robert Harrison, Chairman of the Education Committee, introduced Walter Derk, MCAA Insurance Consultant, who discussed various aspects of his new course for MCAA Chapters.

The Board also previewed Allied Masonry Council's new film "Clay Concepts" which is an excellently produced movie by Henry J. Kaufman & Associates, Washington, D.C. Robert Rawlins, Sales Manager, Pittsburgh Corning Corp., talked briefly on new developments within the masonry industry which will assist the mason contractor in securing (Continued on page 22).


MCAA FIELD MANAGER Rosensteel

The Mason Contractors Association of America is pleased to announce that it has retained Paul Rosensteel to act as its Western States Field Manager. Paul will be headquartered with the Phoenix Chapter at 2046 A North 16th Street. Paul is well qualified to assist the Western MCAA Chapters in any of the problems they many encounter. He was born is Freedom, Pa., and is 43 years of age. He holds (Continued on page 25).


Form New Technical Information Group

PITTSBURGH A central source for technical information about glass blocks has been established here, with formation of the Glass Block Institute (GBI) which represents manufacturing, engineering and installing groups. Pittsburgh Corning Corporation, a manufacturer, sponsored formation of the institute.

The Institute will provide architects, designers, contractors and building trade groups with information ranging from the physical properties of glass blocks to the correct selection of blocks for specific applications. The Institute will also be a source for data on glass block products, application techniques, maintenance and function.

Directors of GBI are G. A. Miller, executive vice president of the Mason Contractors Association of America; R. E. Rawlings, manager of architectural glass products for Pittsburgh Corning Corporation; W. Lovett, registered professional engineer with Pittsburgh Corning, and W. R. Connors, first vice president, Bricklayers, Masons & Plasterers International Union of America.
