Major Expansion
Portland, Ore. Omark Industries, Inc. has announced a major expansion of its distribution system for construction products.

The firm said that it is changing from a factory branch and distributor system to a nationwide independent distributor network.

The program will involve the conversion of 17 factory branches in major cities to distributorships and the establishment of additional distributors in communities not now being served.

According to George Derum, marketing director, the new system will benefit Omark customers "by providing closer sources of supply and will make it possible for them to fill more of their construction needs through a single supplier."

The changeover is expected to be completed by July 1.

"While the conversions are being made, there will be no interruption in service to our customers," Derum said.

Omark intends to supply its distributors from six regional stocking points: existing facilities in Portland, Chicago, Atlanta and South Hackensack, N.J. and from two warehouses to be established in Los Angeles and Dallas.
