Robert E. Dedmon, Jacksonville, Fla., will be the new Field Co-ordinator for the new MDTA Contract covering the states of Florida and Mississippi, succeeding Richard L. Rhodes who will retire Dec. 31, 1966. This contract with SCPI is for an additional 245 trainees. Term of the contract is 12 months and covers 100 bricklayers in Florida and 100 in Mississippi. The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work.
Skil Corporation Marketing Vice President Harry L. Bullock accepts a Gold Medal for world-wide marketing achievement from Russ Johnston, Vice President of the Sales and Marketing Executives-International. Skil's award for its successful introduction of the variable speed drill was one presented to U. S. firms by the professional society in New York City.
Expansion Construction of a new automated warehouse at its Effingham, Ill., plant has been announced by the Norge Div. of Borg-Warner Corp. Completion is scheduled for early 1967. SKIL Corp. has started construction on the firm's new $1 million construction equipment plant in Mansfield, Ohio. Other projects in SKIL's program include construction of a new die casting plant at Berkeley, III.; the addition of 45,000 sq. ft. at the firm's Skokie, III. plant; and increasing capacity at Middleport, New York. Herschel W. Hunt, MCAA Apprenticeship Representative, was a featured speaker at the 9th Annual Indiana Concrete Masonry Association meeting held in Indianapolis on Jan. 8-10. LeRoy A. Yarnell has been appointed comptroller of the Light Weight Aggregate Corp., Livonia, Michigan.
