had it that neither team received any breaks resulting from a bad call.

Probably the wildest tug-of-war contest ever staged at Bonnie Brook was witnessed by all in attendance. Under the direction of Elton Asmus, who lined up the behemoths of the contractors and suppliers, and also refereed the event the contractors emerged victorious, twice in three trys, either because they were the biggest, strongest, or best coordinated. And their victory was all the sweeter when it was discovered that Skip Roncelli, who tips the scales near the better part of 300 pounds, was illegally smuggled to the suppliers in the most clandestine manner.

Roncelli, in addition to being a mighty rope hauler, proved that he also had the fine touch when he walked away with top honors in the horse-shoe contest. Skip threw that classic one-and-a-half turn shoe wide open to the stake to best his nearest rival, Don Bidwell; third place going to Jack Hackett.

This year's outing, considered the best ever, had outstanding planning. Lively music and entertainment preceded the dinner hour which was attended by 330, including 27 distinguished guests who are associated with the construction industry.

An unanimous vote of thanks must go to the various committee members who worked so diligently to make this annual event the exceptional success it was. They include Jack Hackett, Gerry Shaw, Grant Thompson, Ray Sweet, Bob Pachota, J. Burke, Leo Mack, Paul VilleMonte, Fred Southers, Jr., Jack Robinson, John Knecht, Jim Wilson, Parker Monger, Ed Gilbreth, Tom Boldenweck, Dick Hunter, Ralph Larson, Floyd Nixon, Sam Magna, Don Lage, Don Evans, Ron Schifko, John Heslip, Ed Boike, Don Hinkle, Tom Halley, Elton Asmus, Bob Vandervennent, Dick Zimmerman, and Vic Ippolito. Special recognitions are in order for all who had any part, large or small, in this annual event, who are not mentioned here.
