MCAA Executive Board Meets
Breezy Point, Minnesota, was the site of the Summer Executive Board Meeting, August 1-4, with 106 persons in attendance. Located in the heart of the North woods on beautiful Pelican Lake, The Hopkins House Breezy Point Inn provided a relaxed atmosphere where golf, swimming, fishing, boating and business could be effectively combined.
Business sessions got underway on Thursday afternoon when the Masonry Industry Committee met with representatives of the Portland Cement Association, W. E. Swanson and S. H. Westby, to review with them progress of programs currently underway and to develop new projects for the future.
On Friday morning the Finance Committee got things off bright and early when they met at 7:30 A.M. Chairman Doug Hughes and David Soloff, O. L. Jollay, Stephen D. Raimo and Harry Strauss were in attendance. This was followed by the Research Committee meeting at 9:00 A.M. with Robert Tubesing presiding. Main topics under discussion were high-bond mortars and the results of a recent survey of Committee members. Don Dirkse, Dow Chemical Co., reviewed with the Committee the development of Sar-Bond and the history of projects undertaken with this mortar. Many and varied tabulations were presented relative to the survey. At 11:45 A.M. President Bidwell called a special meeting of the Executive Committee to review recent problems facing the Masonry Industry.
Starting at 9:00 A.M. Saturday morning the MCAA Board met in Executive session. It heard full reports from the Officers, Committee Chairmen and Field Rep-
