PCA Reorganization
Plans for major reorganization of the Portland Cement Association have been approved by member companies, Dr. Harry N. Huntzicker, PCA president, has announced.

All major areas of Association work -market development, research and development, and field operations- are affected. Dr. Huntzicker said.

Principal change will be the restructuring of PCA's field operations into three divisions.

Heading a new Eastern Division is Walter E. Kunze, formerly manager of the Association's seven-state Midwestern Region. The division comprises all states east of the Mississippi River, except Wisconsin. C. H. Knight, Jr., Western regional manager, has been named manager of the new Western Division, which covers all states west of the Mississippi, plus Wisconsin. Both will be headquartered in Chicago.

George H. Paris, Canadian regional manager, will continue to supervise PCA operations in Canada as manager of the Canadian Division. All three division managers will report to J. A. Leadabrand, vice president for field operations.

Dr. Huntzicker said that further reorganization of PCA field areas and local office locations in the United States will be determined in the coming months in discussions with member companies. Instead of 30 districts and five regions, it is proposed that there will be 12 to 14 smaller regions, each with appropriate field engineer and specialist coverage.

Engineering development will be consolidated in the Research and Development Division with the formation of two new departments. Director of a new Engineering Design and Standards Department will be W. Burr Bennett, now director of engineering services, M. L. Burgener, assistant to the senior vice president for market development, has been named director of the new Construction Methods Department.

The revised structure of the Market Development Division under the administration of Senior Vice President James D. Piper will permit expansion of educational services, allied industries programs, and market research.

"The overall objective of these changes," Dr. Huntzicker said, "is to restructure our Association to improve its flexibility and effectiveness, and gear for the efficient development of new markets and services which offer greatest potential."
