Question: Aren't Umbrella Excess Liability policies very expensive?

Answer: Not any more. It is decidedly cheaper to buy liability insurance in layers and competition is now forcing a number of domestic insurance companies to lower their price to the point where it is often cheaper to buy a very broad umbrella excess liability policy contract than it is to simply carry conservatively high limits under standard Comprehensive General Liability policies. Arranging the underlying insurance protection to your best advantage is something of an art, however, and should be entrusted to a professional who knows what should be done, where and when.
