Burk Top Texas Apprentice
Kenneth Burk took first prize in the Texas Bricklayer Apprentice Contest held April 12 in Fort Worth. The award carries a beautiful trophy and a cash award. Kenneth is indentured to Dee Brown Masonry, Inc., Dallas. Placing second and third respectively were Mike Bryant and Billy Brown, both indentured to General Masonry, Inc., and receiving their apprenticeship training through Local Union No. 7 in Houston.

People & Events...

Illinois Brick Co. has promoted Norman Lunde to Vice President in charge of Sales. Lunde had served as Sales Manager of the firm since 1961. The appointment of Edward A. Boike, Jr., as special masonry cement salesman for, the Detroit sales district of Huron Cement, has been announced by Blaine E. Miller, District Sales Manager.

The Kansas Division headquarters and sales office of Lone Star Cement Corp. has moved to 1968 Johnson Drive, Shawnee Mission, Kansas 66205. General Shale Products has opened Plant #19 at Knoxville, Tenn. It is the only fully automated brick plant in the world and its daily production is approximately 90,000 units.

Our congratulations to John Wm. Chapman, Jr., on being named Deputy Director of GSA. John has spoken at various MCAA activities and was featured speaker at the MCAA Cincinnati Convention. Newest member of the Colorado Mason Contractors Association is O.K. Masonry, Inc., Denver, Colo.

Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Special Assistant to the President for Urban Affairs, will be the keynote speaker at the 1969 AIA Convention. The Concrete & Masonry Contractors Association of Minneapolis has released their 1969 Directory and (Continued on page 16)

Appoint Campbell
Douglas G. Campbell of 11 Grace Road, Woburn, Mass., has recently been appointed Manager of Zonolite Advertising Services for the Construction Products Division of W. R. Grace & Co. Campbell was Advertising and Sales Promotion Manager of Sylvania Electric Products, Lighting Products Division Inc., Danvers, prior to joining the Grace Division. Campbell will be in charge of all promotion and advertising of Zonolite products which include Attic Insulation, Masonry Fill, Dyfoam Polystyrene, Zonolite Roof Deck Systems, Monokote fireproofing material and Permadeck Roof Decks. Campbell received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston University's School of Public Relations and Communications in 1954. He is presently an active member of the Greater Boston Chapter of the Association of Industrial Advertisers and the Advertising Club of Greater Boston.
