New Systems Approach

A new "Systems Approach to Management Planning" has just been introduced by Planning Dynamics, Inc., Pittsburgh-based multi-service firm of management counselors.

Offered as a comprehensive package, the new PDI "plan for planning" is in time for officers of small- and medium-size companies who have not yet begun their planning processes to get set for the '70s. The new "Systems Approach" kit is also useful for planning executives of large corporations who want to keep up with latest planning tools and techniques.

The unique new "Systems Approach" was developed by PDI over five years, and is said to present much experience by PDI and PDI clients in better planning for better results and greater profits. It is offered to business and industry now to help company executives get a head-start on planning by using proven techniques. It is also intended to eliminate much time and money devoted by companies in creating a basic flexible planning system.

According to Edward J. Green, Planning Dynamics president, "There is no standard plan for planning that can be pulled off the shelf for universal application. But there are a growing number of concepts that have been thoroughly tested and and a wide range of processes and techniques which, when selectively adapted, can make a substantial contribution to the effectiveness of planning. In our practical approach we have tried to present the most up-to-date and complete way to get the planning job done."

Cost of the "Systems Approach to Management Planning" is $100. Discounts prevail for quantity orders. Pennsylvania orders must have 6%. sales tax added.

Planning Dynamics' new "Systems Approach to Management Planning" is summarized in detail in a folder just released by the firm. The folder is available free from: Planning Dynamics, Inc., Gateway Towers, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15222.

Ship's passenger to another: As a navigator he's not too bad, but it's comforting to know that the world is round."

What does it cost to write and mail a business letter today? Believe it or not, it costs $2.74, says Dartnell Corp., a business aides publisher of Chicago. Last year the same average letter cost $2.54 and in 1967 it cost $2.49. The cost study assumes a $10,400-a-year junior executive takes seven minutes to dictate a letter to a $110-a-week secretary. Dartnell breaks down the cost this way: Overhead, 774; Filing, 114; Materials, 84; and Dictating time, 584. The other $1.20 would include stationary, postage, typing time, etc.
