Research Reports
The first of a series of research reports on the effects of openings in structural concrete members has been published by the Portland Cement Association. The report, Square Openings in Webs of Continuous Joists, covers the first phase of a comprehensive investigation. Later reports will deal with the effects of openings of other shapes, multiple openings, and openings in other types of members. The PCA research is particularly important to architects, engineers, and others interested in systems construction. It will provide procedures for designing concrete members with holes to accommodate the complete integration of subsystems. Single copies of the report (RD001.01D) are available in the U.S. and Canada from any Portland Cement Association regional office or from the Portland Cement Association, Dept. PI-12-2, Old Orchard Rd., Skokie, III. 60076.
