V. E. EMORY,
Vice President, Region D

Vernon is President of the mason contracting firm bearing his name, V. E. Emory, Inc. of Dallas, Texas. He started in the masonry industry as an apprentice in 1951, moved up to masonry foreman three years later, and has been a contractor since 1958. His company activated a new architectural precast concrete plant last year.

Vernon is Vice President of the Dallas Chapter of MCAA, after having served as President and Secretary, and also is Secretary of the Associated Masonry Contractors of Texas. He holds memberships in the Local Joint Apprenticeship Committee, the North Texas Contractors Association, and the Dallas County Democratic Executive Committee.

He and his wife have been married for 18 years and have a son, Gary, and two daughters, Lorrie and Rebecca.


STANLEY N. CHILD,
Vice President, Region E

Stan serves as President of Child Construction Co., Salt Lake City, Utah. He started in the masonry business with his father and brothers and subsequently contracted work throughout the country, from Washington, D.C. to California. One of his firm's present projects is the L.D.S. Temple in Ogden, Utah. His personal experience has covered every facet of the masonry industry, from brick, block, firebrick and stone to the largest precast concrete jobs.

A veteran of World War 1, Stan served in the Utah House of Representatives from 1935-36 and was a State Senator from 1939-45. He is a Past-President of the Mason Contractors Association of Utah and Past Chairman of the Institute of Fine Arts and the Utah Tax Study Committee. He also was Chairman of the Public Education Fact-Finding Body in Utah.

His family consists of two sons, S. R., who is a doctor, and Boyd R., who serves as Vice President of the company. A daughter, Mrs. H. M. Grether, is the wife of a law school dean in Lincoln, Neb.


G. EARL BLACKSTOCK,
Vice President, Region F

Earl serves as President of G. E. Blackstock, Inc., Seattle, Wash. About the start of his career, he says: "After observing different tradesmen on my father's jobs, I bought myself a trowel and started practicing. When a brick foreman observed me laying brick, I was promptly apprenticed to the local union in Vancouver, B.C." And that was 58 years ago!

His sons, Earl Jr., William C. and Conrad, are presently running the corporation, and they have combined to teach the trade to three grandsons, two sons-in-law and one nephew. An Army veteran of World War I, Earl has taught architectural classes at the University of Washington and held numerous offices with union and masonry organizations over the years. While President of the MCA of Seattle, he along with E. J. Gill originated the first Unit Masonry Association for that city.

In addition to their three sons, Earl and his wife, Olga, have two daughters, Joan and Linda. The Blackstocks have resided in Seattle since 1923, shortly after they were married.


EUGENE GEORGE,
Vice President, Region G

Gene serves as President of Canada's largest masonry contracting firm, George and Asmussen Limited, Kitchener, Ont. He currently is President of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association and Chairman of MCAA's All-Weather Committee.

When not engaged in the promotion of the masonry industry, Gene relaxes in the operation of his thoroughbred racing stable, piloting his Aero-Commander, and participating as a player in a local construction hockey league.

He additionally has been involved in the New York Ranger professional hockey organization, serving as President of one of their prime farm clubs. With all of this, he has still found time to engage in what he terms his most important role "being father of seven sons."
