FRED H. DAUES
Fred H. Daues, past president of Mason Contractors Association of America, died suddenly on Tuesday, April 28, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mr. Daues was president of Fred J. Daues & Sons, contractors of brick work, a firm that has been recognized in the Eastern Missouri area for excellent masonry for the past 78 years.
Fred was one of this Association's staunchest supporters and most devoted worker. In 1956, at the 6th Annual Convention of MCAA in Louisville, Kentucky, he was elected president. He had previously served as regional vice president, convention chairman and state chairman. He was also a past president of the St. Louis Chapter and a member of many of the local Trust Funds serving the Masonry Industry. The high esteem in which he was held by the members of this Association was evidenced by his being selected in 1968 as the recipient of this organization's highest commendation-the Lead Man Award.
During his affiliation he never missed an executive board meeting or convention, indicating his involvement in the programs of the Association. His great desire to help his fellow mason contractors was only exceeded by his untiring efforts on behalf of the entire Masonry Industry.
The MCAA and the Masonry Industry has indeed lost one of its most respected and devoted supporters.
