Hold Masonry Course
A two day "Masonry Construction" Institute will be held at the Madison campus of The University of Wisconsin May 20-21, 1971. The program is designed for architects, engineers, and contractors who desire design and construction knowledge of highrise bearing wall structures of clay and concrete (unreinforced) masonry.

APPOINT R. E. STANLEY
Robert E. Stanley, Arlington, Texas, has been appointed Essick district manager for the company's South Central territory, according to Bill Allison, national sales manager for the California-based manufacturer.

Stanley previously was president and general manager of Cooper-Stanley Co., manufacturers and distributors of construction equipment in Arlington, and also was vice president and manager of A & B Equipment in Fort Worth.

In his new post he will service Essick dealers and distributors in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, western Missouri and southeastern Mississippi.


Sponsor Student Tour
The Florida Concrete & Products Association, Inc., will sponsor a tour for the architectural students of the University of Miami and the University of Florida, April 22 & 23, 1971. This tour will incorporate visits to outstanding examples of building architecture in the Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg area. The students will also hear talks by the architects, designers, contractors, and builders of these prominent structures. The FC&PA Student Program Committee feels that field trips are invaluable complements to academic studies and enhances the student's outlook on the world of architecture.


UMA ACTIVITIES
U.M.A. of Greater Cincinnati held a full-day Seminar, January 14, 1971 for the local Building Inspectors and Engineers from Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. The topic was "Structural Design of a 20 Story Brick Bearing Wall Building based on the Ohio Building Code and SCPI Code. Don Woodland, P.E. Structural Clay Products Institute conducted the In-Service Seminar.

On February 4, 1971, over 200 architects and engineers from local firms attended an INFORMATIONAL-DINNER MEETING also sponsored by U.M.A. of Greater Cincinnati. The guest speaker for the evening was Mario J. Catani, Structural Engi-
