# Neal English Is Named First IMI Executive Director
Neal English, formerly Public Relations Director of The American Institute of Architects, has been appointed Executive Director of the newly created International Masonry Institute (IMI).
IMI was created by joint action of the Mason Contractors Association of America and the Bricklayers, Masons & Plasterers International Union. Headquarters for IMI will be located in Suite 1006, 823 15th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.
Donald Bidwell, Chairman of the IMI Board of Trustees and a mason contractor in Detroit, Michigan, said, "The masonry industry is fortunate to have a man of Neal English's experience and ability as IMI's first Executive Director. He will organize the headquarters office and staff and administer IMI's programs to promote and advance the use of masonry construction throughout the United States and Canada."
Prior to joining The American Institute of Architects, English was National Director of the Office of Public Information for the American National Red Cross. He is membership chairman for the Washington Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and has been active in various civic activities. A veteran of World War II, he graduated from Ohio State University in 1949 with a degree in journalism.
English, 45, resides with his wife at 512 North Oakland Street, Arlington, Va. They have two sons.
# MCAM Holds Annual Meeting in San Juan
The Masonry Contractors Association of Massachusetts journeyed down to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for its 1970 annual meeting which began on November 13. Highlighting the five-day affair were seminars on new products, masonry promotion, seasonality and labor problems in dealing with minority groups.
"Many committee reports were read and new ideas brought forth contributing to the great success of the meeting," according to Hugo Fabbri, Jr., MCAM corresponding secretary. "One of the high points of the meeting was the acceptance of Louis Allegrone, Jr. for membership in our chapter."
# Dahl, Waddell Move Up at Prime-Mover Co.
Two top echelon administrative appointments at The Prime-Mover Co., Muscatine, Iowa, have been announced by Stanley M. Howe, president.
Gene Waddell has been promoted to general manager, the post formerly held by Arthur E. Dahl, who has moved up to senior vice president of the firm's parent organization, Hon Industries. Dahl has been with Hon since 1946 and was elected vice president of Prime-Mover in 1950. Waddell joined the corporation in 1964 as sales manager of Prime-Mover.
The company manufactures electric forklift trucks for industrial and warehouse materials handling, and powered concrete buggies and mason tenders for building construction.
