CMCA's DesOrmeaux Dies After Illness
The Canadian Masonry Contractors' Association was saddened by the death of Fernand DesOrmeaux of Costa Construction Ltee., of Laval, Quebec.
Mr. DesOrmeaux was one of the original Vice-Presidents of C.M.C.A., for the Province of Quebec and was an invaluable asset to the formation of a national masonry contractors group in Canada. Mr. E. B. George, Canadian Vice-President of M.C.A.A. expressed his sentiments regarding the passing of Mr. DesOrmeaux after a lengthy illness. "During my years as President of C.M.C.A., I found Fernand DesOrmeaux to be a willing contributor to the formation of the national association. He will be missed greatly by all those who knew and worked with him. At the time of his death he was a Director At Large of C.M.C.A., and had been instrumental in the formation of the Quebec Chapter Association Canadienne Des Entrepreneurs En Maconnerie Chapitre Du Quebec', as well as the chairman of the Apprenticeship Committee."
Perini Anticipates Loss
Perini Corporation reports that costs on a power plant under construction near Albany, New York, by a Perini-managed joint venture, have greatly exceeded 1970 year end projections, and additional reserves have been provided for anticipated losses to complete the project. It is estimated that the corporation will therefore have a consolidated net loss through the nine months ended September 30, 1971, of approximately $700,000 or 16 cents per share.

Slide Film Available on Florida Construction
A slide presentation detailing one of the newest methods of construction in Dade County, Fla., is available to all interested groups from the Miami Masonry Guild. Entitled "Building for Tomorrow," the 12-minute program illustrates load-bearing masonry construction and was created for those groups connected with the building industry in the Greater Miami area.
According to George Miller of the Miami Masonry Guild, load-bearing masonry construction may well become the standard building technique in the near future due to its ability to tremendously decrease construction time, thereby decreasing costs.
The subject of the slide presentation, an apartment complex in Hialeah, took eight months to complete. Construction officials said that had normal construction techniques been used the job would have taken about 13 months.
