# Detroit Presents $10,000 to IMI
Two of the nation's largest cities, Detroit and Chicago, are now providing financial support for the International Masonry Institute Promotion Fund, according to IMI Chairman Donald R. Bidwell. IMI has been established by the Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) and the Bricklayers, Masons & Plasterers International Union (BM&PIU) as a labor-management effort to provide a national program of advertising and promotion for the masonry industry. It is financed through 1¢ an hour payments to IMI for every hour worked by BM&PIU members in the U.S. and Canada.
The announcement that Chicago would provide support for IMI, beginning June 1, 1971, was made jointly by Nicholas Popovic, President of BM&PIU Local 21 in Chicago, Donald Larsen, President, Mason Contractors Association of Greater Chicago, and Harry Lasch of the Builders' Association, which is the Chicago Chapter of AGC.
The Detroit announcement was made with the presentation to IMI of a $10,000 check representing accumulated payments of 1¢ an hour in past months. In a normal work year, participation in the City of Detroit alone could reach $25,000. In Detroit, as in Chicago, it is anticipated that nearby communities and counties will participate on a regional basis.

NCMA's most recent Pictorial, Vol. 27-No. 4, covers Shopping Centers. Handsomely done, the 12-page brochure effectively does a good job of selling masonry. Here are some address changes: Commercial Masonry, Ine, has moved to 507 Scott St., Covington, Ky. 41011, while Ulrich Franzen & Associates-Architects have moved to 555 Madison Ave., New York, N.Y. 10022.
