Results of 1st IMI Campaign Impressive
The International Masonry Institute's first national advertising campaign---centering on the cost advantages of masonry is achieving impressive results, according to Neal English, IMI executive director. English reports that IMI's first national advertisement, which focused on both the initial and ultimate cost advantages of masonry walls in comparison with precast concrete, metal panel and glass panel walls, appeared in eight national magazines in the United States and Canada during October and November. The potential audience consisted of more than 1.5 million businessmen, architects, engineers and builders.

As of December 1, 1971, more than 1,150 readers had clipped the ad coupon, filled it out and mailed it to IMI headquarters in order to obtain the booklets "Walls to Save Dollars" and "Concrete Masonry Walls in Multi-Family Housing." English said that IMI expects to be receiving these requests for several more months. In addition, IMI is getting countless requests for other information and assistance from designers, owners and building professionals.

Booklet requests have come in from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, seven of Canada's 10 provinces, and seven foreign countries. The advertisements appeared in Business Week, Fortune, Architectural Record, Architecture Canada, Buildings, House & Home, Professional Builder, and Progressive Architecture.

Architects, engineers and other design professionals accounted for 43% of the response, with a significant number coming from students and professors. Contractors accounted for 19% of the response. Some 18% were from businessmen including real estate, development, building management and financial executives.
