ALFRED JENSEN
Alfred M. Jensen, veteran member of the Mason Contractors Association of Kenosha, Wisconsin, died in early May following a sudden illness. He was 73.
Born in Esbjerg, Denmark, he spent his early life in Denmark and received his education in schools there. In 1921 he came to Kenosha. In 1934 he married the former Margaret Clausen and that year formed the Alfred M. Jensen Construction Co., which he operated since that time.
He was a member of the St. Mary Lutheran Church and the Danish Brotherhood Lodge 14.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard of Wilmette, III., and Theodore of Kenosha; two daughters, Miss Gudrun Jensen and Miss Margaret K. Jensen, both of Madison, Wis.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Hans of Australia and Otto of Denmark; and three sisters, the Misses Marie, Anna and Gudrun Jensen, all of Denmark.
GEORGE W. KING
Union officials and industry leaders mourned the passing of George W. King, First Vice President of BM&PIU, who died April 10 in an Alexandria (Va.) hospital following a heart attack. He was 77.
Former Treasurer and an international officer since 1960, Mr. King had served his union for many years as representative on the National Joint Board for Settlement of Jurisdictional Disputes and was a past member of the General Presidents' Committee for Contract Maintenance. He had been a member of BM&PIU since 1923.
Mr. King was a native of Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland and learned his trade in Glasgow, Scotland, where he gained his journeyman's card. He served in the British Army with an Irish regiment in World War I, fought in France and was wounded five times. Following the war he played professional soccer in Scotland before resuming his trade and emigrating to America.
Surviving are his widow Jean and two brothers, Thomas B., a Milford (Conn.) architect, and John, of Scotland.
BM&PIU President Thomas F. Murphy eulogized Mr. King as "a man of the highest character who always served his union to the best of his very considerable abilities" and as a "warm human being who received and gave pleasure in being with his numerous friends in all walks of life."
MARLOWE BERNHAGEN
The masonry and building trades in Minnesota were saddened by the sudden passing of Marlowe "Mike" Bernhagen, who succumbed to a heart attack in his office at the age of 43.
Mike started as a bricklayer more than 20 years ago and was president of Quality Brick & Stone, Inc. in Minneapolis, one of the largest mason contracting firms in the Twin Cities area specializing in apartment buildings. He formed his organization approximately 12 years ago.
Mike was a member of the Minnesota Concrete & Masonry Contractors Association and was active on a number of its committees. Upon learning of his death, MCMCA members characterized him as a "great guy and a wonderful family man, a person who will be missed by all of us. He thrived on competition and was envied for the quality of his work in which he always took great pride."
He is survived by his wife, Marsha, and four children, Kevin, Craig, Sheila and Pam. The family resides in Bloomington.

LeGore, PCA's director of safety & environmental services for 34 years, has retired and was honored at a luncheon on June 1... And the newly created post of accounting & finance director at PCA has been filled by Richard E. Reuss, CPA, formerly of Champaign, III.... Superior Fireplace Co. of Fullerton, Calif. and Baltimore, Md. has announced the appointments of Bob Curry and Patrick Hunt to the respective positions of fireplace consultants for the Los Angeles and Missouri territories.
The environmentalists lament the way man messes up nature, and then along come the winter storms to remind us it's a two-way street.
