St. Louis Contractors Elect Donald Leonard
Donald O. Leonard, Jr., president of Don Leonard Brick Contracting Co., was recently installed as president of the Mason Contractors Association of St. Louis. Other officers installed at the annual dinner meeting were: vice president, James Fell, Fell Contracting Co.; secretary, Harry Gillick, Gillick Bricklaying; treasurer, John Abeln III, John Abeln & Associates. Retiring president Harold H. Maisek presented the official president's gavel to Leonard during the festivities in the Marriott Hotel.
Loadbearing Masonry Wall Seminar to be Held at University of Nebraska
A seminar on Loadbearing Masonry Wall Construction will be conducted at the Nebraska Center for Continuing Education in Lincoln, March 29-30.
The seminar, to be held on the East Campus of the University of Nebraska, is being sponsored by the University's Departments of Architecture, Engineering & Construction Science in cooperation with the Brick Institute of America, Region 6.
Topics to be covered include: The First 10,000 Years of Brick: Introduction to the Loadbearing Concept; Materials and Specifications; Research and Testing; Building Codes and SCPI Standards; Differential Movement; Structural Design Procedures; Building the Bearing Wall Structure; General Design Considerations; Inspection and Quality Control; Seismic Design In Loadbearing Masonry; Economics of the Loadbearing Brick System, and Cold Weather Masonry Construction Procedures.

Krallman Is New Prexy Of Cincinnati MCA
The Mason Contractors Association of Greater Cincinnati, at its annual election meeting in January, chose John Krallman of Herman Krallman & Sons, Inc. to serve as president for the 1973 term.
Other officers elected were: David Swedes of David Hummel Building Co., vice president, and Kenneth Junker of Junker Masonry, Inc., secretary-treasurer.
N.Y. Mason Contractors Pick Zotollo President
Anthony J. Zotollo has been elected to a second four-year term as president of the Associated Brick Mason Contractors of Greater New York. The Association's members handle more than 80 per cent of all brick and masonry work in New York City and Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Also elected were: Stephen Raimo, Ist vice president; Ralph Perri, 2nd vice president; Michael Cerussi, secretary; Frank La Sala, treasurer, and Rocco Ranieri, sergeant-at-arms. Philip Jaeger and Vincent Messina were elected members of the board.
Washington MI Elects Wiechmann President
The board of directors of Masonry Institute, Inc., Washington, D.C., have elected H. Ludwig Wiechmann president, succeeding Anthony J. Izzo, Jr. Wiechmann heads his own mason contracting firm in Alexandria, Va. He was born and educated in Bremen, Germany, and migrated to the Washington area in 1954. After his apprenticeship training in Germany, he became a journeyman, advancing to foreman and later becoming president of his own firm in 1960.
Other officers elected were: Joseph T. Deckman II, vice president; Hamilton Beggs, secretary, and R.C. Doyle, treasurer.
Gleason Reelected Head of Masonry Institute
Clarence D. Gleason, president of the mason contracting firm bearing his name in New Hudson, Mich., has been reelected president of the Masonry Institute of Michigan for 1973.
Also elected were: vice president, Frank Soave, vice president, J.R. Snyder Co., Novi; secretary. Howard Hicks, vice president, Ebeling & Hicks, Inc., Romeo; assistant secretary, Joseph Fisher, president, Maco Co., Ferndale; treasurer, Dwight Lewis, president, Rohn Fireproofing Co., Oak Park; assistant treasurer, Robert F. Ebeling, president, Ebeling & Hicks.
3rd Term for Larsen as MCAGC President
Donald E. Larsen of the construction firm of Thorleif Larsen & Son, Inc., Elk Grove Village, III., has been elected to an unprecedented third term as president of the Mason Contractors Association of Greater Chicago, headquartered in Park Ridge, III. He previously had held the posts of secretary and vice president of the group.
Other association officers serving with Larsen are: vice president, Walter A. Staack, president of V.S. Wallgren Co.; secretary, Robert Sander, president of M.A. Sander & Son; and treasurer, Richard H. Lauber, president of J. & E. Duff, Inc.
Executive secretary of the association is Jan Sutherland, 1550 Northwest Hwy. in Park Ridge. MCAGC recently sponsored its 2nd annual "Excellence In Masonry" awards program, about which a story appears elsewhere in this issue.
U. of Wisconsin Course on Masonry Estimating
The Engineering Department of the University of Wisconsin-Extension will conduct a two-day "Masonry Estimating and Construction Methods Workshop" April 11-12 on its Madison campus.
