The course is offered in cooperation with the Wisconsin chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America and the Mason Contractors Association of Madison. Conducting the course will be D. Roth, chief estimator for Donovan Construction Co., St. Paul, Minn. A feature of the workshop will be a discussion of load-bearing masonry design and current building codes.

NCMA Announces New Executive Appointments
Owen G. McKinney, president of McKinney Concrete Products, Inc., Pueblo, Colo., has been elected board chairman of the National Concrete Masonry Association, Arlington, Va. McKinney entered the concrete masonry manufacturing business in 1955 and previously served as a vice president, director and member of various committees of NCMA. He is equally prominent in the Colorado Concrete Masonry Association, of which he is a past-president.
Donald L. Lampus, general manager & treasurer of R.I. Lampus Co., Springdale, Pa., has been named chairman of the association's board-elect, and will be elevated to the office of chairman of the board in January, 1974. He has served as a director, executive committee member, and on various committees of NCMA. He also is a founder of the Pennsylvania Concrete Masonry Association and continues his active affiliation with that group.
In other executive appointments, Paul Lenchuk moves up from executive director to president and chief operating officer of the association. Appointed vice president of technical services is Henry Toennies. Richard Branham is the new vice president of marketing & association services, and John Warren becomes vice president of administration and secretary-treasurer.
Seminar Scheduled on Lightweight Aggregates
A seminar on new developments in the use of lightweight aggregate concrete will be offered April 9-11 at the Portland Cement Association's Cement & Concrete Center in Skokie, 111.
Titled "Production and Control of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete," the seminar is jointly sponsored by the Expanded Shale, Clay & Slate Institute and the Portland Cement Association.
A $175 registration fee covers all course materials and transportation from the hotel to PCA's Cement and Concrete Center.
Field Resigns MI Post To Join Block Company
Thomas D. Field, manager of the Masonry Institute of San Francisco since January, 19-71, has resigned that post to become manager of Hokanson Building Block, Inc., Sacramento. Considerable praise has been given by the board as well as members of the Masonry Institute's component organizations to Field's efforts on behalf of the institute and his accomplishments both as manager and assistant manager of MI over a period of more than four years.
He was particularly credited for the development of the 1972 masonry seminars and his plans for reintroducing masonry into the college engineering curricula. He also was credited with a positive program of personal contact and information dissemination with emphasis on technical data. Field brings 30 years' masonry industry experience, including that of journeyman and mason contractor, to the Hokanson company.
GP Reports Sales Rise
General Portland, Inc. reported a 27 percent increase in net sales and an 8 percent increase in net income for the year ended December 31, 1972. Earnings per share increased to $1.65 on a larger number of shares outstanding, from $1.61 in 1971. It was the sixth consecutive year of sales and earnings improvement for the Dallas-based firm.
