P. D. Hermann Elected to ASAE Presidency


P.D. "Bud" Hermann, executive director of Associated Equipment Distributors, has been elected president of the American Society of Association Executives. He was inaugurated during ASAE's recent annual meeting in New Orleans. More than 27 million association members are represented by the 5,000 executives who compose ASAE's membership.


Hermann recently celebrated his 25th anniversary with Associated Equipment Distributors, whose membership is comprised primarily of distributors and manufacturers of construction equipment.



Grimm to Manage Texas Building Materials Lab


Clayford T. Grimm, P.E., has been named managing director of the Texas State Building Materials & Systems Testing Laboratory, a consortium of nine state universities. Established by the Texas Legislature in 1971, the Lab assists local governments, the construction industry and the public by facilitating the use of innovative materials and methods in the building industry.


Grimm is on loan to the State of Texas from the College of Engineering, University of Texas at Austin, where he is a member of the faculty and associate director of the University's Center for Building Research. He will direct the operations of the Texas State Building Materials & Systems Testing Laboratory in its efforts to promote technological innovation in construction.

All-Weather Council Meets in Chicago

Three MCAA members who serve on the International Masonry Industry All-Weather Council-which strives to stretch out the work year for the construction industry indicate that the Council's most recent meeting held in Chicago revealed that noteworthy progress is being made.


The three are: Eugene George, MCAA Canadian Regional Vice President, who is Council Chairman; Charles Velardo, MCAA Vice President, and George A. Miller, MCAA Executive Vice President. In addition to MCAA, the following organizations are represented on the Council: Bricklayers, Masons & Plasterers' International Union, Portland Cement Association, Brick Institute of America, National Concrete Masonry Association, and Laborers' International Union of North America.
