Brick Helps to Beautify San Francisco
The leaves of young trees cast a lacy shadow on the red brick pavement of Hallidie Plaza in San Francisco, the below-ground level entry to the downtown BART station on Market Street. The brick plaza with its concrete tiers creating a step-like appearance is part of the Market Street beautification program now underway. According to the Flintkote Company /Calaveras Cement Division, more than 1,300 tons of cement are being used to make the mortar which will set the more than 4.5 million red brick along the 2½ mile sidewalk.

The Associated Equipment Distributors, Oak Brook, Ill., has published its 24th edition of "Rental Compilation" containing nationally averaged 1972 rental rates and model reference data for construction equipment. The "Green Book" is based on a comprehensive annual survey among AED's 900 distributor members-firms that sell, rent and service construction equipment. It's good old-fashioned American business sense to spend your dollars with firms that have an interest in your common welfare. The policy of the established mason contractor who patronizes manufacturers that support MCAA programs follows the line of sound business management and is a credit to the industry.
