Job Safety Agreement

Small businesses needing long-term loans to comply with federal job safety and health regulations will be provided improved service under a new inter-agency agreement between the Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Small Business Administration (SBA).

John H. Stender, Assistant Secretary of Labor who heads OSHA, and Thomas S. Kleppe, SBA Administrator, said the agreement clarifies procedures employers should follow to obtain funds to come into compliance with OSHA's regulations.

The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 amended the Small Business Act to allow such aid after OSHA-SBA coordination and approval before loans may be granted. Loans may be applied for either before or after an OSHA inspection.

Detroit Golf Outing

Historically one of the finest golf outings in the Detroit area is the one sponsored by the Detroit Mason Contractors Association, and the 1973 event was no exception. The day-long affair, held recently at the Bay Point Golf Club, drew more than 70 golfers with the turnout swelling to 175 for the evening festivities. Shown here is Julian Soave of Skyline Construction who finds that he has more help than he really needs in lining up a putt. Looking it over (from the left) are MCAA Secretary Bob Ebeling of Ebeling & Hicks; Ray DeGrendel of DeGrendel Fuel & Supply; Lou Cirelli of Skyline Construction; Elton Asmus of Brighton Cut Stone; Howard Hicks of Ebeling & Hicks, and Sam Magna of Borin Builders Supply. The day's best score was turned in by Don Bidwell, who is shown receiving congratulations from outing chairman Bob Pachota of Best Block Co.
