Massachusetts Institute Honors Velardo

After handing out numerous awards to others, MCAA President Charles Velardo (left) was honored to receive one himself. It came from the Massachusetts Masonry Institute, recognizing him for his long and meritorious service to the Association and the Masonry Industry. Making the presentation is Bob Joyce, Executive Director.

New Felker Location

Felker Operations, Tool Group, Dresser Industries, Inc., Torrance, Calif., has opened a new service center in Dearborn Heights, Mich. The facility is located in the Bay State Abrasives regional warehouse at 25600 Princeton Rd.

Felker customers east of the Mississippi River will be serviced from this new Michigan location.

Massey-Ferguson Buys

Canadian Manufacturer

Massey-Ferguson Industries Ltd. of Toronto, Ont., Canada, and Kanmet Ltd. of Cambridge, Ont., have announced the purchase by Massey-Ferguson of 100% of the shares of Kanmet.

A privately-held company, Kanmet operates a foundry producing nodular and grey iron castings with an output of about 8,000 tons annually.

Massey-Ferguson Industries Ltd. is the Canadian operating subsidiary of Massey-Ferguson Ltd., Toronto-based, world-wide manufacturer of industrial and construction machinery, farm equipment, diesel engines and other products.

Trinity Elevates Scott,

Smith to New Positions

James E. Scott has been named general manager of North Texas operations and Leland D. Smith, Jr, general sales manager for the Trinity Division of General Portland Inc. The announcement was made by Jurgen F. Ringer, vice president and general manager of the firm's Trinity Division.

In his new position, Scott will be responsible for cement sales in Dallas, Tarrant, and surrounding counties, as well as for ready-mix operations and sales throughout the North Texas area. He will also have responsibility for stone, sand, and gravel operations and sales, and concrete block operations and sales in North Texas.

As general sales manager for the Trinity Division, Smith will be responsible for cement sales throughout South, East, and West Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, and portions of Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska and New Mexico.
